Here are just a few examples of what our clients have to say about Matthew Ellett Ltd…
Matthew and his team did a wonderful job creating a garden at our new house last year. He was thoughtful and listened carefully from the start about what we wanted to achieve. He introduced us to an excellent garden designer who he felt would understand what we wanted. They worked well together throughout the project. The construction went ahead on schedule and was done to a very high standard. Matthew has a high attention to detail and it shows. He is also a good problem solver. His communication was clear and we could always rely upon him to meet his commitments. We would have no hesitation in recommending Matthew Ellett to others.

Matthew has created wonderful front and back gardens for us in two separate projects. He was able to create a stunning back garden with gravelled paths, gabion walls and oak sleeper beds on a steeply sloping site, as well as building a substantial timber deck and patio area to enable us to enjoy the views. Matthew has the ability to translate designs to reality with a combination of outstanding construction skills and a real attention to detail. We’d highly recommend him for any garden project.

Matt and his team have worked an absolute miracle on the half-acre plot of agricultural land that I added on to my tiny garden in 2018. Suggested by garden designer Sarah Naybour, I had no hesitation in choosing Matt after our first meeting to discuss the whole project. They clearly work very well together, and listened carefully to my ideas for the garden. Making their own helpful suggestions, they turned them all into a stunning, beautiful reality.
Matt had excellent suggestions about which materials to use, and provided samples so I could really understand the benefits and appearances of these. There were many challenges to the job; the crendon barn and 400 tons of contaminated soil had already been removed, leaving most of the site 50 cm below finished level, with a separate pile of 200 tons of top soil. I also wanted electricity and water tunneled across the site for taps and lighting. Late in the design phase I decided to build an oak framed garden room extension, meaning the two teams would be on site together over a snowy winter, leading to a very wet and windy spring. Despite the weather, they worked incredibly well together.
The design includes two large patios; a long stretch of wooden decking built around a sunken hot-tub and then extending over the wildlife pond; three distinct flower bed areas; an orchard area; and a vegetable garden of raised beds behind a beech hedge. Extras constructed by Matt, such as the bespoke garden shed, Hartley Botanic greenhouse and large, wooden compost bins have made it a real pleasure to work in the garden. Matt and his team worked tirelessly, and completed the project on schedule, to a very high standard. Coupled with Sarah’s stunning designs including the planting, it was so fun to come home from work every day and see the amazing progress they had made. My garden is a real pleasure that my family, friends and I enjoy every day. I was delighted that the people who had worked on the garden were able to come to a BBQ with their families after the completion of the works last July, as a small thank you.

Mathew has just transformed a large area of the churchyard at Northmoor that was overrun by brambles, ivy and laurel, and rebuilt a 30 metre length of dry stone wall with great skill and ingenuity.
